Why do you need to maintain a tankless water heater?
Tankless water heaters have been popular for some time. They take up less space, are more energy efficient and can get you hot water pretty quickly.
They also represent a pretty large investment.
As the water runs through the heater calcium and sentiment build up on the elements. It's just a natural process. Over time, this build up will start to impact the performance of the unit and if ignored, can damage the internal components.
Just like you have to descale a Nespresso coffee machine, it is a good practice to descale your tankless water heater once a year. This is an easy process that takes about an hour where you basically flush your water heater with a solution that cleans off the build up. Kind of like going to the dentist when they take of the plaque.
Sure, you can roll the dice and not maintain the water heater. The downside is that it will impact the longevity of the water heater forcing a replacement (or rebuild) sooner than you would hope.
Have a great day!
